However, there is now a more efficient way to produce gypsum powder. This process starts with crushing the raw gypsum into a fine powder. This powder is then fed into a flash calcination unit where it is heated to driving off any excess water. The resulting material from the flash calcination unit is a highly anhydrous form of gypsum which can be used immediately in the manufacturing process, eliminating the need for further drying.

This new process for producing gypsum powder has many benefits over the traditional method. It uses less energy, produces a higher quality product, and has a smaller environmental impact.
