Step Three: Clean and Inspect the Bearing
After removing the bearing from the jaw crusher, it’s important to clean and inspect it thoroughly. This will help identify any damage or wear that may have occurred during operation.
To clean the bearing, use a rag or brush to remove any dirt or debris. It may also be necessary to use a solvent-based cleaner to dissolve any stubborn grime.
Once cleaned, carefully inspect the bearing for signs of wear such as cracks, pitting or scoring. Check for any discoloration which can indicate overheating or lack of lubrication.
If there are no visible signs of wear, check that the bearing rotates smoothly without any resistance. If there is resistance, this could indicate damage inside the bearing cage and replacement may be necessary.
By taking care in cleaning and inspecting bearings regularly, you can ensure they last longer and prevent costly breakdowns in your large jaw crusher machine.
