Argentite introduction
Argentite is an essential silver ore alongside galena. Argentite is the high-temperature form of acanthite. Like several other sulfides, selenides, and tellurides of silver and copper, argentite forms isometric crystals at high temperatures. Argentite was primarily treated as a mineral of the galena group, cubic silver sulfide, occasionally found as uneven cubes and octahedra. It occurs in mineral veins, and when found in large masses. Old names for the species are Glaserz, silver-glance and vitreous silver.
